1000 £ Bend
A strange and interesting cavernous space that felt like a house party I just happened to wander in to, not knowing any of the guests but really enjoying myself regardless.... That's what I got from 1000 £ Bend.

With a queue of people waiting behind you at the door, grappling for a table, there’s no need to be friendly for goodness sake!!
I was happy to discover this was not the case at Coin Laundry.
Fitzrovia has managed to brilliantly bridge the gap between cafe and restaurant. This collaboration between chef Paul Jewson and his long time partner Marco Pugnalioni combines excellent front of house service with a spectacular menu.
Kinfolk has become my “go-to” café when I’m looking for a lunch that’s just a little out of the ordinary.
My God, it’s impossible to keep up with what’s cool. One day it’s converted warehouses in industrial suburbs with tattooed baristas and a roaster our the back; the next it’s…Kew? What the hell is going on?
I knew I was really going to love Penny Farthing when one of the waitresses noticed I was reading Marieke Hardy’s book and engaged me in a conversation about her. As I was there on my own, it was really lovely to have this sort of extended interaction with the wait staff. And then my coffee arrived.
The thing I love most about Pure Italian? That it’s jammed right up next to a Pizza Hut. Oh the irony.
Despite the rave-worthy sandwiches, it is also very important to leave room for dessert. The display cabinet of cakes is filled with yummy homemade items such as brownies and woopie pies. We took home a brioche donut with sour cream and lemon glaze and a lamington. Both were excellent.
It’s sophisticated, a great racounteur with fabulous taste, and just a bit minxy and mischevious.
The Bakery in Perth will be hosting a West Australian Art Exhibition on Thursday November 3rd, raising funds to support the Leukaemia Foundation.
When we finally visited Café Gaia this weekend it lived up to our first impression. The wait staff are friendly and helpful without a hint of South Yarra snobbery. They seem to be on first name terms with a majority of their customers and the banter between them kept us entertained.
