Enter Australia’s New International Coffee Roasting Competition

Australian International Coffee Awards (AICA)

Better get your skates on! You have until Wednesday 24 April to enter Australia’s first international coffee roasting competition. The Australian International Coffee Awards (AICA) have been designed to recognise excellence in the coffee and will be held as a related event to the 2013 Melbourne International Coffee Expo in May at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

Some things you may need to know:

“Judging will take place from Tuesday, 7 to Thursday, 9 May at Melbourne Showgrounds and an expert panel will award excellence in roasted coffee from around the globe.

Exciting and influential industry experts will preside over the AICA, including Emma Markland-Webster (New Zealand Barista Championship and World Barista Championship Certified Judge), Brian Dessaix (Campos Coffee), Richard Bradbury (Coffee Australia), Rob Stewart (Ducale Coffee), Levent Doganay (Grinders Coffee), Jeremy Boxall (Jasper Coffee), Willyng Surya (Mocopan Coffee), Craig Simon (Think Tank Coffee), Craig Dickson (Veneziano Coffee) and Zeta Grealy (Zeta’s Coffee). Further additions to the judging panel will be announced closer to judging.

Trophy and medal winners will have their coffee assessed and benchmarked by industry experts, receive valuable feedback and have the opportunity to market their coffee with the AICA’s seal of excellence.

Conducted by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), the inaugural AICA has been launched following the success of the Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards’ coffee competition.

To enter or for more information, visit http://www.rasv.com.au/coffee or contact Ross Karavis of the RASV on +61 3 9281 7435 or ross.karavis@rasv.com.au.”

Beaudy! Get roasting.
