When I think of Bentleigh, my mind drifts to a place of nanacinos, (a small cup of steamed milk), walking frames, and prams, but mostly walking frames. In reality, well, there a lot of walkers and prams, but if your willing to try and dodge them (maybe make a game of it), Centre Rd has a lot going on…ummm….errr…well more that you would think.
What I found was coffee that was presented so well, you stop for a second and just admire what the barista has made for you.
The battle was fought in a warehouse on the back side of 1000 £ Bend on Little Lonsdale Street. When you get there walk around the back, through a couple alleys, if you get the feeling that your going to get bashed and have your wallet stolen you’re in the right place.
The other week I caught up with Drew Funk to talk about secret wars. Drew has made it through to the semi final having bested his last challenger and will be competing again this Wednesday march 9th. If he is succeeds he will have a shot at the championship.
If I could ever get emotional about a cafe it would be The Spot. My first weeks in Australia were spent about two blocks away at my now in-laws house.
Before we get too deep into Secret Wars, I have to confess that I’m late to the party the first Melbourne battle was in late 2010 and the semi finals are coming up March 9th.
